If you prefer to travel by bus, you can buy a single ticket that also covers the water bus ride from Piazzale Roma.
A holiday in Caorle is a marvellous opportunity to visit one of the most famous and beautiful cities in the world!

Visit Portogruaro, just a few miles from Caorle

Portogruaro was founded just after AD 1000, as a port on the Lemene River. The driving force behind its development was the bishop of Iulia Concordia, an important Roman settlement dating back to 42 BC.
In 1420, Portogruaro became part of the Republic of Venice. The picturesque square and beautiful buildings that can still be seen today date back to that time. They make the town look like a little Venice and bear witness to the prosperity that it enjoyed.
Portogruaro is renowned for its art and culture. The streets are lined with Venetian and Renaissance buildings and its unique charms are reflected in the river running through the town!

Concordia Sagittaria: step into history in the town once known as Iulia Concordia

The town now known as Concordia Sagittaria was founded as Iulia Concordia in 42 BC. It served a defensive role on the Eastern border at the meeting point between two important Roman roads: Via Annia and Via Postumia. It played a part in the wars against the invading barbarians until the middle of the 5th century AD, when Attila’s Huns destroyed Aquileia, then laid siege to Concordia and razed it to the ground.
Christianity spread in Concordia and the Church built a bishop’s palace there. In around AD 381, construction work began on a “Basilica Apostolorum” with a nave and two side aisles, which is now found under the cathedral.
There are numerous archaeological finds from Roman times in the town, some of which were discovered recently and can be seen in the local archaeological sites.

Big brand shopping

The McArthurGlen Outlet in Noventa di Piave is one of the biggest locations of its kind in Europe, with more than 100 single-brand and multi-brand stores and a broad selection of products by the top names in fashion.
It is approximately 30 km from Caorle, in spellbinding natural surroundings on the Veneto plain, by the Piave River.

Head to the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene hills to enjoy DOC Prosecco Superiore

In 2019, the “Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills” – an internationally renowned wine production area – were added to the World Heritage List during the 43rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Baku.
The grapes used to make world famous Prosecco Superiore have been grown here for more than three centuries. The wine’s success can be traced back to the opening of Italy’s first oenology school, which was founded in the area in 1876. The production zone covers 15 different municipalities and it is at the heart of the Prosecco world. It has had its own official Italian DOC classification since 1969.
Conegliano is 62 km from Caorle and it is easy to get there by car, with motorways almost all along the route.
